Women’s Conference Takes a Leap

On Thursday, May 17, I will be the emcee at a wonderful women’s conference.  It is the 13th Annual Women in Business Symposium at the Del Mar Fairgrounds near San Diego. I spoke for this conference a couple of years ago, and it was an awesome, unforgettable experience.  Over 200 women coming together to work on achieving their goals, makes for an exciting atmosphere. This is the first conference since the untimely death of the founder and producer, Sheila McDonnell. We are dedicating the conference to her, which should make for even more emotion and motivation.

When I last met with Sheila for lunch, we discussed her choice of the theme, which will be “Sharing the Power of a Leap of Faith.” The origin of the theme was Sheila’s first experience of bungee jumping! She told me it definitely took a leap of faith for her to do it, and actually, she had to leap! She thought it was an appropriate theme for the conference during these economic times, since we all need a leap of faith in ourselves to keep going no matter what. The dictionary says the most commonly used meaning of “leap of faith” is “the act of believing in or accepting something intangible or unprovable, or without empirical evidence.” For women in business, that would be believing in yourself to achieve amazing success, with very little evidence. I intend to move people with this message, as well as make them laugh.

The two speakers that day are both friends and colleagues of mine, who are fabulous speakers.  They are Eileen McDargh and Collette Carlson.  You can Google them to see their messages and all their experience. They speak in the morning, so that in the afternoon, we can meet in smaller groups at Roundtables. These are groups that focus on your particular wants or needs, facilitated by experts. You get to be up close and personal, and make important business connections.

Sample titles of these Roundtables are so intriguing:

  • Marketing Materials: Do You Really Need a Tri-Fold Brochure?!
  • Home Organizing Made Simple – Make Room for Yourself in Your Home
  • When to Talk About the Finances – Before or After Sex?

It’s not too late to register for this amazing day. Go to www.WIBSymposium.com for registration details. Please come up to me and tell me if you found out about this conference from my blog. I know you will enjoy the day – the company of women is both stimulating and healing. See you there!
